Sara Lewis Holmes has lived in eleven states and three countries. She studied physics at UNC-Chapel Hill, government at the College of William and Mary, and writing at home.

Her short fiction has appeared in several children’s magazines, as well as a young adult anthology, Mountains of the Moon.

She began writing her first novel by imagining that her main character was writing letters to her from captivity. Much to her delight, those letters grew into a book, Letters From Rapunzel, which won the HarperCollins Ursula Nordstrom Fiction Prize. She followed that with a book drawn straight from the life of her military family, OPERATION YES. (Arthur A. Levine/Scholastic Books)

Sara lives in Virginia with her husband and two children.
